We have been more than stoked to have the opportunity to work with Nyjah. We ran into Nyjah on the Huntington Beach pier of all places over the summer and that run-in turned into an awesome partnership and relationship. We launched his site on 12/12 at 5PM, just one month after his video part Rise & Shine dropped on 11/11/11.
I can’t say that we were completely happy with the launch because we did run into some server issues and Nyjah’s site went down just seconds after we launched it, do to crazy high volumes of traffic from his fans. We scrambled to upgrade our servers before we did his live stream at 7PM. Fortunately we upgraded and got everything back up and running for the live stream. Kid has so many fans at only 17 years of age. Over 145,000+ on Facebook alone.
The Nyjah Huston brand has been really fun to develop in working with Nyjah over the past several months. So far from what we can tell, a lot of people are hyped on it so far. We are happy with it, but always looking to improve and progress and make it a point to be on the cutting edge of technology and functionality and pass our knowledge on to anyone we are working with.
INFLUENCERS is a short documentary that explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends and creativity become contagious today in music, fashion and entertainment.
The film attempts to understand the essence of influence, what makes a person influential without taking a statistical or metric approach.
Written and Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives (advertising, design, fashion and entertainment) who are shaping today’s pop culture.
“Influencers” belongs to the new generation of short films, webdocs, which combine the documentary style and the online experience.
The peeps over at WPcandy were nice enough to feature Seshn on their blog. Although we can’t exactly say what we are up to now, we can say we are simplifying the experience with WordPress. Most users shouldn’t worry about hosting a site, downloading a theme, finding a good designer, etc. We take the pain out of all of that and keep it simple. Expect more updates soon!
We have a real problem online today. It’s too hard to get a good looking site and personal brand for an affordable price. If you are trying to build up cred and make a name for yourself, your options include; spend a lot of money and spend a lot of money. So should you just go to Facebook and get started there because it’s free and anyone can do it? The problem is mostly everyone CAN’T do it (the right way).
So where do you go from here? You either build yourself an expensive site, find an overly complicated site builder online and build it with that, or use Facebook. These don’t sound like very attractive options if you don’t have money and aren’t technically savvy or design gifted. Also, I’m willing to bet you are probably not going to want to go to Facebook and blend in with all of the other billion users there either.
Apple took a broken industry and made it their own, so will Seshn
At Seshn, we are creating something truly amazing. We are on a mission to fix the consumer website industry by giving users an alternative to what they have been using for years now and are growing tired of. We are highly inspired by what Steve Jobs did with Apple when the computer industry was dominated by IBM, and their supposed twisted reality on what the future of computing looked like. Check out Apple’s famous 1984 commercial below that hits it right on the head. Apple was the fresh young company on the scene, about to take a boring stagnant industry over by storm and bring it to consumers at much more affordable price. We have this same vision with websites and in some ways think that Facebook is comparable to IBM in this commercial. What do you think?
On Facebook and Google+ Everyone looks the same
Unless you went to a private school growing up, you probably are not cool with your friend rocking the same t-shirt you are wearing. I mean, everyone wants to express their own individuality and have their own style right? The beauty in life is being able to express yourself through personality. Through your clothing, through your music, through your home online. Sites like Facebook and Google+ fall short at giving you the ability to do this, and if they do eventually, you will still be limited to your “epic” design skills that everyone tells you they like, but really they think it looks like crap.
This current state of the web has to change. It’s not helping anyone, especially those with ambition, style and a passion for something worth dedicating your life to. So where are we at today?
THEM: uniforms, no-style, underclass citizens on the web, apartment complex tenants
US: original, good style, first class citizens on the web, custom home owners
Focus on building your own home on the web, not living in apartment complex
It’s obvious that Facebook wants to own your identity on the web. With that said, do you want to remain a tenant of the internet’s largest apartment complex your whole life, or do you want to build your own custom home with all the unique furnishings, custom countertops and vibrant wall colors you want? Your online home is thee single most important aspect in your ability to build a successful personal brand for yourself. It allows you to tell your story in your own way. It allows you to show off your style and personality. It gives your fans, friends and followers a better experience and memory of you as a person.
In our eyes, these social networks are not helping the people be who they really are, they are owning the experience for themselves and making money off of banner ads on your profile, you don’t have any control over. Time to take control.
What do you think about Facebook and Google+? Still using them? Is it your home forever? If you want to get started building your own home on the web, contact us and let’s get building.
